HOGAN Assessments in Executive Coaching
Understanding personality in a professional context in a nuanced way
Understanding personality more clearly in the workplace
HOGAN Assessments offer a well-founded way to understand personality patterns in the workplace more clearly. They make visible how you are likely to show up in everyday work, which tendencies may come to the fore under pressure and which motives shape your leadership and decision-making.
In my executive coaching, I do not use HOGAN as an isolated test, but as the basis for a deeper process of reflection and development. The focus is on how these patterns show up in leadership, collaboration, communication and change – and what this means for your next steps.
The three perspectives of HOGAN

HPI – strengths in everyday working life
The Hogan Personality Inventory describes patterns of behaviour that typically show up in normal working life. It offers insight into how you usually collaborate, take responsibility, communicate, lead and perform.
HDS – patterns under pressure
The Hogan Development Survey highlights tendencies that can emerge more strongly under stress, uncertainty or high demands. In coaching, these patterns are especially valuable because they often explain repeated tensions, misunderstandings or a loss of effectiveness.
For people with a lot of responsibility in particular, this focus on potential risk patterns can help them identify blind spots at an earlier stage and manage stress more effectively.

MVPI – motives, values and preferences
The Motives, Values & Preferences Inventory focuses on what drives you internally: your values, interests and preferences. This perspective helps clarify which environments and cultures feel aligned, what gives you energy and which deeper motives shape your decisions and leadership behaviour.
This is particularly important in executive coaching, where the focus is not only on behaviour but also on motivation, a sense of purpose and cultural fit.
When HOGAN is especially useful in coaching
HOGAN can provide a valuable basis for coaching and development in many situations, for example when you want to reflect your leadership impact, prepare for a new role, understand recurring patterns in collaboration, explore stress-related tendencies or clarify your values in times of career transition.
HOGAN is also ideal if you are looking for a confidential, professionally supported space for reflection outside your organisation, or if you wish to develop more robust development processes within leadership programmes and organisational contexts.
How I work with HOGAN

I work with HOGAN within a framework that is both clearly structured and process-oriented. The goal is not to assign a quick label, but to gain a nuanced understanding of your personality in the professional context — and the specific implications for leadership, collaboration, and development.
Typical procedure:
Who this offer is for
This offer is for people who carry responsibility in professional contexts, especially leaders, entrepreneurs, senior professionals and high potentials. HOGAN is particularly valuable if you want to shape your role with more awareness, clarity about your impact and greater inner alignment.
Similarly, HOGAN can provide a valuable foundation if you are at a turning point: before taking the next step in your career, following a particularly demanding period, or when recurring issues in leadership and collaboration become more apparent.
